Two New Ambulances

Check out the new Ambulances on the photo gallery page (Trucks section). Two identical units are from Med-tech in Goshen. One of them will each be housed at Station One and Two.

Burning leaves, grass, etc

We are often asked about burning leaves, grass, and other items. Permits are not necessary as long as certain restrictions are met. Fires must be supervised and have a extinguishing water source nearby (such as a hose). Fires should not be on windy or excessively dry days. Fires may only be burned during daylight hours. Trash may not be burned except for yard waste. Chemicals, aerosols, plastics, or rubber may not be burned at any time. Anytime there is a health complaint on an open burn of any type, the fire department will ask the home owner to extinguish the fire.

VIM Recycling Plant Fire

On Thursday, June 14 at about 10:30 pm an explosion and fire occurred at the VIM Recycling plant in nearby Baugo Township. Concord assisted along with over 30 other departments and over 300 firefighters. Being one of the largest fires ever to hit Elkhart County, it showed the cooperation and strength of the fire departments of Elkhart and surrounding counties. Baugo and all the full time and volunteer departments did a great job. Pictures will soon be posted on the picture gallery.

We remember the 343 firemen who died on September 11, 2001
